Westminster's Lone Runner Places 213th At NCAA RegionalWestminster College's John Hardin placed 213th in a field of 280 runners at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships Saturday in Rock Island, Illinois.
Hardin, a junior from Jefferson City, Missouri (Jefferson City High School), was the lone runner to represent Westminster and finished the 8K course in 29:19.3.
Hardin And Rajbhandari Top WC Finishers At SLIAC MeetJohn Hardin and Pradipti Rajbhandari were the highest individual finishers for the Westminster College cross country teams at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships this past weekend in Hillsboro, Illinois.
Hardin, a junior from Jefferson City, Missouri (Jefferson City High), placed 16th individually on the 8K course in 28:30.40, to lead the Blue Jay men to fifth in the seven team field. Hardin was followed by Josh Ray, 21st, 29:00.35; Mandla Reissmann, 46th, 36:10.95; Corwin Ryck, 49th, 38:18.16; and Chris Hassien, 52nd, 41:24.73. Fontbonne University won its first-ever men’s title.
Rajbhandari, a freshman from Kathmandu, Nepal, took 33rd individually with a 6K time of 28:41.53, and was followed by Jillian Bone, 36th, 29:03.52; Lauren Brohammer, 51st, 32:46.35; and Tenzin Dulal, 56th, 35:46.96. The Westminster women were short one runner and did not place as a team. Greenville College won its fifth consecutive women’s title and its 13th overall.
Four Westminster College Runners Place At Meet In Illinois
Four Westminster College runners competed and placed at the H.W. Wright Cross Country Classic at Millikin University Friday in Decatur, Illinois.
John Hardin placed seventh in the men’s field 8K race with a time of 29:29.25. Josh Ray finished 14th in 30:25.40 and Mandla Reissman was 31st in 38:04.95.
Jillian Bone was Westminster’s lone representative in the women’s race. Bone took 25th in the women’s 6K race with a time of 31:14.15.
Both Blue Jay Cross Country Squads Fourth At Principia
Both the Westminster College men’s and women’s cross country squads finished fourth out of six teams at the Principia College Cowbell Classic this past Friday in Elsah, Illinois.
John Hardin placed 10th in the men’s field with a 5K (3.1 miles) time of 18:12. Other Blue Jay finishers were: Josh Ray, 13th, 18:18; Corwin Ryck, 28th, 23:27; and Chris Hassien, 30th, 24:55. Principia won the men’s team title.
Jillian Bone placed 13th in the women’s 5K (3.1 miles) race in 25:22 to lead Westminster. Other finishers were: Pradipti Rajbhandari, 18th, 26:42; Lauren Brohammer, 23rd, 27:56; and Tenzin Dulal, 28th, 33:12. Principia won the women’s team event.
Three Westminster College Runners Compete In Illinois
Three Westminster College runners competed in the Lundeen/Brissman Invitational, hosted by Augustana College Saturday at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois.
John Hardin finished 200th out of 343 male runners in 29:44.0, while Josh Ray placed 277 in 32:22.7. In the women's race, Jillian Bone placed 280th out of 315 runners in 31:57.1.
Two Represent Westminster At 2008 UCM Mule Run
Two cross country runners represented Westminster College at the 2008 University of Central Missouri Mule Run Friday in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Junior John Hardin finished 109 out of 167 runners on the four-mile course in 25:09.29, and senior Josh Ray placed 148 in 28:12.15. The Blue Jay men did not field enough runners to have a team score and no women runners participated.
Tobey Named Westminster College Cross Country/Track Coach
Dave Tobey has been named men’s and women’s cross country and track coach at Westminster College. Tobey begins his duties September 2.
Tobey comes to Westminster with over 25 years experience coaching high school and college cross country and track. Most recently, Tobey coached boys cross country at Parkway West High School in St. Louis, where he compiled a winning record, won a pair of conference titles, and coached an individual state champion. He previously coached at Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in Springfield, and also at Kickapoo and Central High Schools where he coached five individual state champions.
A member of the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association and the National Federation of High School Coaches Association, Tobey received his Bachelor of Science degree in education from Southwest Missouri in 1981 and he recently completed his Master of Education degree from William Woods University.
