Introductory Letter
Let us first start off, as many before us have probably already done, by welcoming you to Westminster College. As a new chapter of your lives unfold, you will be faced with many difficult challenges to come. You have already overcome the first of these by choosing Westminster as your home for the next four years. Congratulations on making an excellent decision, but it is up to you to take advantage of all that Westminster has to offer. Westminster provides its students a chance to express themselves and reach their full potential; however, it is up to each and every one of you to take the initiative and get involved.

As you enter Westminster, you may wish to explore many of the opportunities college life has to offer. We encourage you to investigate all aspects of Greek life and explore all of the doors that will be opened to you through participation in the Greek tradition. We are sure many of you are uncertain of what Greek life is about, and although this web page represents only a small portion of what Greek life really is, it will provide you with a brief overview of what Greek life is like at Westminster.

For over 130 years Greek organizations have been a significant part of the Westminster community. Greek organizations are built on a foundation of support and togetherness. They maintain a tolerance of those differences that make each individual unique and bring coherence to all of their respective members. They encourage academic excellence, a commitment to service and unity, and allow their members to develop as leaders. With the help of the college, it is the goal of the Greek community for each of its individual members to reach his or her full potential and develop into the leaders of tomorrow. The Greek system strives to foster an environment rich in opportunity: intramural athletics, scholarship programs, philanthropic events, social gatherings, and a network of alumni to aid you after graduation. Each organization provides more than just academic and social opportunities. The friendships and memories that you will take with you are sure to last a lifetime.

We feel that Recruitment is a wonderful way for you to meet the friends that you will have for the next four years, and possibly the rest of your life. We understand that Greek life isn't for everyone, but it is an excellent opportunity to make some of the best friends that you will ever have. We strongly encourage you to look into Greek organizations on our campus, even if you do not wish to pledge. We hope you enjoy your summer and cannot wait to meet you in the fall!

Sincerely,
