Request for Exception to Residency Requirement-Off Campus Form
*Priority will be given to students who submit their application before the posted deadline. We will accept late requests, but they will not receive priority consideration.
Westminster College requires all admitted degree seeking students to live in one of the college residence halls, fraternity houses, college-owned houses, apartments, or townhouses. Any student who wishes to be granted an exception to this policy must submit a written request to our office. To be eligible to reside off campus, you much meet one of the following requirements:

Reside at home with parents and commute from within Callaway county; · 22 years old or have senior credit hours (88) prior to first day of classes; · Married or the primary care giver of a child(ren); · Would like to live off campus for some other verifiable reason. A detailed explanation in writing will be required by the Housing Review Committee, in which the committee will determine the approval/disapproval of your request.
WESTMINSTER TOWNHOUSES
There are 12 townhouse units, and each unit will house six (6) students. There are four (4) single rooms in each unit, and one double bedroom. You will be required to sign up for a single or double when you select housing, as the charges for each space will be different.
· Residents are not be required to participate in a meal plan but may choose to do so if desired.
· There will only be 10 townhouses available to the general student population because two units are reserved for our Resident Advisor staff and their selected roommates. · Units will be two levels, each with four single bedrooms and one double bedroom. There are three bathrooms in the unit, and each comes with living room furnishings, a tall kitchen table and bar stools, and washer/dryer. · Single room: costs per month per resident will be $470 rent/$10 furniture rental (mandatory)/$10 water (flat fee)/$5 phone maintenance fee. The monthly charges per resident totals $495. · Double room: costs per month per resident will be $420 rent/$10 furniture rental (mandatory)/$10 water (flat fee)/$5 phone maintenance fee. The monthly charges per resident totals $445. · Electric costs are paid separately by residents to the City of Fulton. All services must be removed from the College’s name and into resident’s name prior to receiving apartment keys/code. Service is to start in resident’s name beginning August 1, 2010. · Each resident is required to sign a 5-month or 10-month lease (August 1, 2011 – May 31, 2012) and pay a deposit equal to one month’s rent (either $470 or $420). Leases and deposits may be handled by contacting Kay Fink in the Business Office or by calling 592-5225. We will have a lease signing and payment meeting in mid-April where these things may be completed. You will not receive your keys or be permitted to check in until you pay your deposit. · Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as part of a group. Priority will be given to complete groups at the time of room selection. · Cumulative hours and GPA of your group will be averaged and placed in segments of 10 credit hours, then ranked therein by GPA on the priority list. · Groups will select a townhouse according to the priority list. Complete groups of six (6) students will be given priority over all partial groups. · Credit hours will be checked based upon hours submitted to and granted by the Registrar’s Office as of February 23rd. · There are significant safety upgrades scheduled to occur on 7th St during the summer months. We are working with the city to install additional lighting along 7th St., and the north sidewalk is scheduled to be widened to five feet. The east sidewalk along Hickman is also scheduled to be widened. There will be exterior security cameras in the parking lots around the new facilities, and there will also be two new “Blue Light” security phones installed along the walk to the townhouse courtyard or in the parking lot.
RESIDENTIAL HOUSE
· Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors are eligible to apply. · Residents are not be required to participate in a meal plan but may choose to do so if desired. · Utilities are covered by the College and included in the annual cost of the theme house. · Residential Houses have been split into two categories. “A” level houses will cost $5,190 annually, and “B” level houses will cost $4,490 annually. · Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as part of a group. Priority will be given to complete groups at the time of room selection. · Cumulative hours and GPA of your group will be averaged and placed in segments of 10 credit hours, then ranked therein by GPA on the priority list. · Groups will select their house according to the priority list. You will only be eligible to select houses that you can FILL with your own group. · Credit hours will be checked based upon hours submitted to and granted by the Registrar’s Office as of March 10th. · House Pick will be held on March 10th at 5:30 p.m. in Hermann Lounge. A residential house priority list will be posted prior to and during House Pick. · ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR GROUP NEED TO BE PRESENT FOR HOUSE PICK so that you may sign your housing contract agreement. · Applicants not awarded a residential house will be placed on the Residential Hall Room Pick list. WESTMINSTER APARTMENTS
· Sophomores, Juniors & Seniors are eligible to apply. · There are 16 total apartments, and 14 of them will be available at room selection. One is reserved for our apartment coordinator and their selected roommates, the other is held until July 1, 2011 for upper class transfer students. · Residents are not required to participate in a meal plan but may choose to do so if desired. · Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply as part of a group. Priority will be given to complete groups at the time of room selection. · Each apartment has four single bedroom, two full baths, full kitchen with major appliances, washer/dryer, and college furnished furniture. · Costs per month per resident will be $460 rent/$10 furniture rental (mandatory)/$10 water (flat fee)/$5 phone maintenance fee. The monthly charges per resident totals $485. · Electric costs are paid separately by residents to the City of Fulton. All services must be removed from the College’s name and into resident’s name prior to receiving apartment keys/code. Groups with four occupants will be ranked completely before incomplete groups. · Credit hours will be checked based upon hours submitted to and granted by the Registrar’s Office as of March 6th. · ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR GROUP NEED TO BE PRESENT FOR APARTMENT PICK. · Applicants not awarded a Westminster Apartment will be placed on the Residential Hall Room Pick list. RESIDENTIAL HALL ROOM PICK
· Any student that has not been awarded campus housing will be required to go through room pick. ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND, UNLESS THEY HAVE A PROXY FORM ON FILE with the office of Residential & Greek Life, no later than Tuesday, March 22nd. · If you are unable to attend Room Pick, you will need to complete a Room Selection Proxy form, which can be downloaded from the link above. You and the designated proxy of your choice will be required to sign the form and submit it prior to Room Pick. · Students will be ranked by cumulative credit hours and then ranked by GPA. · You may select your own roommate. When your name, or roommate’s name, whichever is first, is called during room pick you will then choose a room in a residence hall that is still available. · People who do not have roommates at the time of room pick will be placed with another student by the Office of Residential and Greek Life. If you select a room by yourself, you forfeit the right to refuse a placed roommate. However, we do invite you to fill out a roommate matching questionnaire so that a compatible match may be found. · If all of our residential hall spaces are filled and there are still students left to select housing, their names will go on a wait list and they will be placed as spots become available. This happens frequently throughout the summer months.
