Through the Columns Guidelines
Through the Columns is a newsletter that is sent throughout campus and to alumni, reaching approximately 7,000 individuals. Stories from the newsletter are meant to be of interest to a broad audience and are shareable on social media.
Through the Columns focuses on:
- Campus events (virtual or in-person)
- Awards and recognitions of students and faculty
- New faculty, staff (positions of interest outside of campus), administration
- Anything interesting, unusual, or noteworthy taking place on campus
- Significant student achievements
- Successful alumni
- People who give back to the College
- Feel-good Westminster stories
- Blue Jays victories
- Interesting stories about Westminster's rich history
Submitted stories of no more than 350 to 500 words are acceptable, but we prefer to be contacted before the story is written.
Submitted photos ideally should be high-resolution and focus on people rather than objects.
Highly significant stories about Westminster sometimes are crafted into news releases and shared with the media. If possible, please contact our office in advance of events, awards, achievements, etc., so we can alert the media in a timely manner and get the word out about all the wonderful things taking place at the College.
Through the Columns is published periodically. We do our best to remain timely; therefore, submissions and other news items may need to be moved to another issue, depending on current events taking place at the College. We reserve the right to include only what we deem suitable for the newsletter.
